JOB VACANCIES IN NANKAI UNIVERSITY

COLLEGE OF TOURISM AND SERVICE MANAGEMENT


 



1.     INTRODUCTION

Nankai University is located in Tianjin which is one of the four municipalities in China. It is a key multi-disciplinary and research-oriented university directly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. In September 2017, the university was selected to the list of 42 national higher education institutions that would participate in national “Double World Class” Initiative as one of the 36 A-level universities in China.

Since 1981, Nankai University started to offer the Tourism Bachelor’s Degree which was the 1st university operated the tourism management undergraduate program in China.

It is also one of the first batch of universities who were entitled to award the MSc in Tourism Economics, Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) and Ph.D in Tourism Management. Nankai University is acting as the secretariat of China National MTA Education Supervisory Committee. Currently, there are nearly 650 students and 41 faculties which include 8 professors, 17 associate professors, 12 lecturers and 4 post-docs at the College of Tourism and Service Management. The Bachelor’s in Tourism Management program was included on the list of “National First-Class” Initiative Project in 2019.






The College of Tourism and Service Management is equipped a number of teaching and research platforms such as the Digital Learning and Research Center, the No.1 Wisdom College, the Center of Tourism Experimental Teaching. Besides, as an institutional member, the college is actively participating in numerous international organizations and academic communities such as WTA, PATA, ICHRIE, IFITT, ISTTE, TTRA, CHME, and CAUTHE.

2.     JOB VACANCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

2.1.    Lecturer (Assistant Professor)

2.1.1.   The applicant should be an excellent doctoral graduate from an outstanding university overseas;

2.1.2.   The research interests include but not limited to the tourism management, event and festival activities, public administration, business management, industrial economics, urban planning, cultural and geography, cultural and heritage, public relations and sociology;

2.1.3.   The applicant should provide the Certificate of Graduation Accreditation issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange of Ministry of Education, China by no later than December 31, 2020.

 

2.2.    Research Fellow (Post-Doc)

2.2.1.   Position Requirements

l    The applicant should be an excellent doctoral graduate from an outstanding university in China or overseas, with high academic level, outstanding innovation and undertaking major research projects abilities and the potential of becoming a full-time teacher of the school;

l    The applicant should be within three years after graduation (Accept the applicants who are the projected graduates within 6 months);

l    The applicant who graduated from the domestic universities should provide the Ph.D certificate by no later than December 31, 2020. The applicant who graduated from the universities overseas should provide the Certificate of Graduation Accreditation issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange of Ministry of Education, China by no later than December 31, 2020;

l    The research interests include but not limited to the tourism management, public administration, business management, industrial economics, etc.

2.2.3.   Employment Period

l    1st Contract: 3 Years

l    2nd Contract: 1-2 Years

 

2.3.    Associate Professor

Applicants are supposed to meet the qualifications of associate professorship of Nankai University. A minimum academic requirements in the past five (5) years include: 1) published no less than three (3) high-level academic papers in the Q1-Q3 SSCI/SCI journals by the first author or corresponding author; 2) hosted a state sponsored or higher-level project. They should be young academic teachers with great academic potentials.

 

2.4.    Full Professor

Applicants are supposed to meet the qualifications of full professorship of Nankai University. A minimum academic requirements in the past five (5) years include: 1) published no less than five (5) high-level academic papers in the Q1-Q3 SSCI/SCI journals by the first author or corresponding author; 2) hosted a state sponsored or higher-level project. They should be academic leaders with peer recognition in related disciplines.

 

2.5.    Hundred Young Academic Leaders of Nankai University

Applicants are supposed to have made symbolic achievements with high-level academic ability over the peers and published no less than two (2) high-level academic papers in the Q1-Q3 SSCI/SCI journals by the first author or corresponding author in the past five (5) years. They are supposed to have great innovative ability and potential to become discipline leaders.

 

2.6.    Talent Professor

Overseas applicants should be in the position equivalent to associate professor or above in global leading universities or research institutes. Domestic applicants could find out more detailed information from the Office of Human Resources.

 

2.7.    Distinguished Professor

Overseas applicants should be in the position equivalent to associate professor or above in global leading universities or research institutes with the recognition of international peers in their research fields. 3.     EMOLUMENT AND WELFARE

Apart from a competitive emolument, Nankai University would offer considerable welfare including research funding, housing allowance, research platform establishment, international communications, schooling for children, medical care, etc.
